OVERVIEW: It has been said that Cormac possesses the worst traits of a Gryffindor, which might be a tiny bit unfair, but it also has some truth to it. He is confident to the point of arrogance, and rather than simply being brave, he is often foolhardy and reckless and finds it almost impossible to say no to a challenge. He is quite impulsive as well, prone to speaking and acting without thinking, and the things he says and does aren’t always that intelligent. The need to be in control is a part of his personality, though, so he will say whatever he wants to say and tell people what they ought to do regardless of what they might think. He has a bad habit of thinking also of himself as infallible, so getting annoyed with people that disagree with him is something that happens quite a lot – and yes, he does have a bit of a temper as well.
Cormac does not only have bad traits, though. He picks up on new things surprisingly quickly and has a good memory, for instance, even if he doesn’t always learn from his mistakes. He is quite social and likes talking to people, and as long as they don’t disagree with him, he is charismatic and charming. Keeping a conversation going all by himself is something he is quite good at, but some might argue that it stems more from a lacking ability to listen rather than great oratory skills. There are some people he is more interested in than others, though, and with them, he is often willing to shut up and listen. At least for a while.

OVERVIEW: Aineas McLaggen was a muggleborn, but that did not stop both him and his brother Tiberius from becoming influential men in the Wizarding World. They both started working at the Ministry shortly after they graduated, and before too long, Tiberius became adviser to the Minister and Aineas head of the hit-wizard squads. The choices of Aerona Goldwell were almost as surprising as two muggleborn boys achieving such things, however, as she was a pureblood witch expected to do nothing but marry and have children. That wasn’t the life she wanted for herself, however, so against her parents’ wishes, she started training to be a healer once she graduated from Hogwarts. A few years later, while visiting a wounded partner in St. Mungo’s, Aineas was officially introduced to Aerona, and it did not take long for the two to start dating and subsequently get married.
Cormac was born in April of 1979. As his mother was a pureblood, he was brought up around magic, and like his father, he displayed signs of magical talent at an early age. He was also frequently taken to Quidditch matches and various social gatherings with other influential witches and wizards, so it was no surprise that he came to see himself as one of them. When he was nine years old, his younger sister Teagan was born, and Cormac never learned to be happy with sharing the attention. Fortunately, though, he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter two years later and was sorted into Gryffindor like his father and uncle, which they were all very proud of.
The return of the Dark Lord caused some uncommonly strange events to occur during Cormac’s Hogwarts years, but he was never personally involved. He never joined the Quidditch team either, more out of dislike for most of the people on the team than because he couldn’t. Honestly, he was pretty talented (and perhaps a little bit too aware of it). In his seventh year, though, he did temporarily make the team, but was responsible for a very bad game for Gryffindor. Also in his seventh year, he was invited to the Slug Club because of how influential his family was, and he was always delighted at a chance to talk about them.
After his graduation, he first joined a French Quidditch team as keeper and was therefore not around for the Second Wizarding War. His father, however, was. Discovered to be a muggleborn but unwilling to register, Aineas tried to escape. Unfortunately, he was found by Snatchers and killed almost instantly. Aerona grieved deeply, naturally, and Cormac decided to return to Britain to keep an eye on both her and his younger sister. Then, after just a few weeks, he was offered the position as keeper for the Montrose Magpies, which he found himself unable to turn down. Deciding that his mother and sister would be fine, he moved to Tinworth.
Coincidentally, the house he purchased in Tinworth was located next door to the home of Seamus Finnigan and Lavender Brown. He soon grew quite close to the latter, and one night, after a Quidditch victory party, he stumbled into their house, quite drunk, and as Lavender wasn’t entirely sober either, the two ended up spending the night together. Surprisingly (to him, at least) he was kicked out in the morning, and Lavender hardly spoke to him for the next few weeks. This didn’t make much sense to him, but he tried to deal with it. After all, he had his job – and other friends and girls who were interested in him – so why should he care? Right?
