Terry Boot had developed a crush on Hannah Abbott since their fifth year. He never got enough courage to say anything to her though. They were friends and nothing more. Plus, she never gave any indication that she viewed him as more than a friend. In their sixth year, when Hannah was pulled out of school because of her mother’s death, Terry started writing to her anonymously. She didn’t reply. It might have to do with the fact that he sent out the wrong letter in which he detailed the numerous ways he was attracted to her instead of asking how her mother was. That might have seemed a little strange and certainly not a letter he would want to receive after the death of his mother.
But after the Battle of Hogwarts, Terry decided that it was time. It was time to tell Hannah that he had feelings for her. Except he couldn’t. Terry was deathly afraid of rejection. Instead, he did the next best thing. He went into The Leaky Cauldron almost every day. It wasn’t too hard to believe. He worked in the Ministry and plenty of employees there went to The Leaky Cauldron. He and Hannah talked about the most random of things when she was serving him, like if there should be a new flavour of Butterbeer or if The Leaky needed a new coat of paint. It was a few months later that he finally told her how he felt after her shift.
Hannah was taken by surprise and started rambling on about how this was not something she expected, how she thought he was a lovely person but she wanted to be just friends and somewhere along the line, let slip that she had someone else in mind. That someone? Neville Longbottom. Terry wasn’t about to give up though. He still came to The Leaky Cauldron everyday, hoping to change her mind. He came in one evening and saw Hannah serving Neville. Terry, for the first time in his life, felt jealous.
What will Terry do now? Will he approach Neville and tell him about Hannah’s feelings? Or will Hannah tell Neville herself first? Or will she give Terry a chance? What about Neville?
