Evangelina Gibbs was tired. Work was exhausting. She seemed to be assigned more and more to the emergency room. Not that she didn’t wish to be assigned to the emergency room. People there generally seemed very surprised that she wasn’t frowning or sulky when she treated them. It was part of her job description so there was no point in being resentful that she was assigned to the pit. But four days in a row was stretching it a little too thinly. Evie was quite sure the Healer in Charge was favouring the new handsome Healer. Shrugging as she walked along the pathway, the blonde looked up into the sky as she felt raindrops.

The sky was overcast, a clear sign that a storm was coming. That was fine by her. While her brothers were the ones who disliked rain, preferring it to be sunny, Evangelina liked stormy days. It always smoothed her to watch the raindrops pattering down on her windowpane. Casting her eyes on the Hogsmeade train station a short distance, Evie made her way there. That had been her designation in the first place.

The train station had always been a favourite of hers during her Hogwarts days. Being in a castle with hundreds of other students sometimes got too suffocating for Evangelina and this was where she came to clear her head. She occasionally got a stranger or two coming here during her Hogwarts years. Evie had made friends that way. She always thought it was bizarre, making friends in that way. Settling herself on a bench, the blonde waited for the oncoming storm.

Hands stuffed in the pockets of his dark blue jeans, Jasper strode along the cobblestone streets of Hogsmeade with a somewhat thoughtful expression. This was unusual for him, seeing as he usually held a blank face steady at all times. It was a particularly overcast Sunday afternoon, something that he was completely fine with. Not only was he fond of thunder and lightningm he didn't much like sun in the first place. It was much too bright -- hurt his eyes. Squinting at everything and walking about blindly was not a favorite pastime of his, and most likely, nor would it ever be.

Many people had stayed in, fearing that they would be caught in the rain amidst traveling by foot. However, Jasper did not much care, for what was a few droplets of water? It wasn't as if he would melt or drown -- why be so dramatic and plan his whole day around something that was subject to change? After all, the weather was fickle. And, it was the last day he had off before another long week of training, so he figured he'd better get out of the house. He'd be cooped up inside for another six days after this, no doubt.

For some reason, Jasper found that his attention was caught by the train station, which he was currently walking past. Stopping in his tracks before the swinging door, he stared up at the mound of bricks, as people nudged past him, bustling in and out. Normally, he didn't do things on impulse, but only if he had a specific reason to. So he hesitated before entering, not wanting to do so simply because he felt an urge. He didn't believe in fate or any of that rubbish, and was partial to the reasoning that nothing was coincidental. So to avoid being taken off guard, he decided that he would take a train into London, just to say he had a purpose.

Nodding to himself, the training Unspeakable finally walked into the station, moving easily through the crowd. He had always liked the train station, simply because there were so many people that no one could possibly single him out and stare. It was a good, safe feeling, being virtually invisible. It was nice to know that nobody was ogling at him from a distance, as of the moment. Lost in the mass of people, he prodded on until he found a bench, and sat down on the end of it. It was a few moments before he glanced to his right and found that a blonde woman happened to be next to him. Another second passed by, before he realized it was the girl who lived in the flat next to his own. Immediately he recalled that day about a week ago, when he'd first really noticed her. She'd been on the floor in the hall, on her knees, sobbing.

At first, he had tried to just turn the other cheek and walk away. But uncharacteristically, he couldn't do it, and had to see what was the matter. He'd been shocked when she'd suddenly embraced him, still crying, leaving tear stains on his jacket. But of course, he hadn't been able to push her away, for he wasn't entirely composed of ice. Eventually he'd discovered through her grief that her mother had passed on. It had been quite a dramatic experience.

He hadn't seen her again, until now. Unsure of how to react, Jasper blinked, slightly afraid she would break down all over him again. It had made him uncomfortable then, and if it happened now in front of all these people, he just might have a heart attack. Still, he didn't get up and walk away, either. He didn't even know her name, so what was he to say or do? Caught off guard for once, he simply glanced at her side-long, and stated more quietly than normal, "Hello again." It was a feeble greeting, for the usually calm, cool and composed former Slytherin.

[ hope this is okay : ) ]

Of course, today the train station wasn’t that deserted. Evie sighed softly, wondering in her mind if everyone had decided not to apparate today. The blonde didn’t mind huge crowds. She never stood out in crowds and that was something she liked, not being the center of attention. But she was worn out and didn’t feel like squeezing into the train with that many people. Evangelina hoped that they were just waiting for the commuters in the next train. Folding her arms around herself, Evie debated with herself for a brief moment if she should apparate home. She could, if she didn’t dislike the feeling of appariation that much. No doubt, it was so much more convenient to do so, but Evangelina preferred the traditional Muggle ways of travelling. Like trains and cars and buses.

Looking out into the distance, the blonde kept her brown eyes on the sky. She was pretty much unoccupied until the train arrived. Wishing that she had brought a book to read, Evie took to looking at the various people who were walking by her. A man, looking rather worried, all but ran by her towards the exit. Evangelina wondered what could have happened to make him do that. Her gaze followed him to the door. Blinking, the former Hufflepuff turned her head back. She looked to her left and gave a slight jump. The surprise she felt had unquestionably been shown on her face. An instant later, it was followed by a slight blushing.

She turned away, feeling mortified. She knew it. Sooner or later she would have bumped into him again. Not that she had taken pains to ensure that she wouldn’t meet him again. Flashes of their very first meeting burned through her mind. She saw herself on the floor, hugging him, a total stranger, telling him that her mother had died. If that wasn’t enough, she hadn’t let go of him for quite some time. At that time, Evangelina had been so distressed that she hadn’t thought of what she had done. Once she had been more composed in her flat, together with her sisters, had she then realised exactly what she had done. That had left her feeling very very embarrassed and hoping she wouldn’t have to meet him again to explain herself.

But she had. Evie could only hope that he wasn’t going to speak to her. A stranger bawling her eyes out in front of you wasn’t exactly the thing Evie wanted to remember. Evangelina considered, for the second time now, if she should apparate away. Before she could reach a decision, the blonde heard his voice. As if she couldn’t control her actions, Evie turned back and looked at him. “Hello.” She said. That was perhaps all that she could say to him right now. Maybe she should give him a smile to ensure him that she wasn’t going to break down all over again. It hadn’t been that long ago since her mother died after all. And so, her signature half smile appeared on her face as she looked at him properly for the first time.

ooc; it's fine! :)
